Filter press classification

Classified according to filtration mode: box filter press, plate and frame filter press, belt filter press, diaphragm filter press.

Classified according to structure: cantilever filter press and belt filter press.

Classified according to pressure: hydraulic compression, manual Jack compression, mechanical compression.

How does the filter press work?

The filter press is generally composed of head plate, tail plate, filter plate, hydraulic cylinder, main beam, transmission and opening device, etc. The hydraulic cylinder piston pushes the head plate so that the filter plate presses the adjacent filter plate to form a filter chamber; the mud is sent into the filter chamber by the mud pump, the water is discharged through the filter cloth through the discharge outlet, and the solid mud forms a filter cake in the filter chamber. When the mud fills the filter chamber, the high-pressure pump is used to continue the pressure filtration of the mud so that the solid and liquid can be separated in the filter chamber.

Step 1: press the filter plate.

Operate the hydraulic system to make the tail plate move toward the head plate and press all the filter plates between the head plate and the tail plate. As a result, a hollow sealed filter chamber is formed between the adjacent filter plates.

Step 2: pressure filtration process.

The feed pump transports the mud from the feed hole of the tail plate to the filter chamber. when the filter chamber is filled with mud, the pressure filtration process begins, and the mud carries out solid-liquid separation with the help of the pressure of the feed pump.

In the initial stage of pressure filtration, the thickness of the mud cake in the filter chamber is small, the resistance of the cake is small, and the dewatering speed is fast, so a pump with low lift and high flow rate is usually used at this time. With the increase of filter cake thickness and resistance, the pressure filtration speed decreases, so the pump with high lift and low flow rate is applied. The time required for the pressure filtration process is determined according to the filtration characteristics and process requirements of the mud. when the specified pressure filtration time is reached, the feeding is stopped and the pressure filtration process is completed.

Step 3: release the filter plate.

Operate the hydraulic system to return the headboard to its original position.

Step 4: unload the filter plate.

The transmission chain on the transmission and pulling device pulls the filter plate apart one after another, and the filter cake falls off with the help of self-weight and is transported away by the lower transport machine.

Factors affecting performance:

Pressure:

The main factor affecting the filtering effect of the filter press is the control of pressure. as we all know, the main working principle of the filter press is to realize the filtering function through the control and adjustment of pressure. therefore, the quality of the pressure system is directly related to the filtering effect.

Speed:

Another factor that affects the performance of the filter press is the speed of filtering. now many manufacturers are blindly pursuing the speed of product filtration while ignoring the essence of filtration. in fact, according to the liquid concentration and resistance and other different factors to consider and properly allocate the speed of the machine, which is the designer needs to design before the purchase.

Filter area:

The factors that affect the filtering effect of the filter press are the filter area. As we all know, the larger the area of the filter is, the faster the flow rate of the object passing through at the same time will be, the more residue will be taken away from it, and the worse the filtering effect will be. Of course, between the same density specifications, large areas are not as good as small area filters, but this comparison method is not applicable to products with different mesh areas.
